4 Glensheen Christmas Pro Tips

Christmas is one of our most popular seasons of the year and for good reason. In fact for many of the staff it is their favorite season as well.

Here are some tips to make it an even better experience.

Main Hall’s big Christmas tree

1. Avoid Saturday if you can.

It is still a great experience but there is a good chance of lines. Plus. there is a harder time of securing a Full Mansion tour. For example on Saturday we will see over 500 ppl and on Sunday around 300 ppl and weekdays around 150 ppl. Our peaks generally follow the Bentleyville busy calendar as well.

If you do come on Saturday, dress warm as you may stand in a line outside. We will have fires for you to help, but winter clothing is still nice to have.

Extra tip: the later in the day you come, the slower it gets.

Glensheen attendance mirrors Bentleyville closely.

2. Explore the grounds

Especially if there is a snowfall, the grounds of Glensheen can be beautiful this time of year.

Make sure not to miss

  • Stone Arch Bridge over Tischer Creek
  • West Gate Entrance
  • Lakeside view of Mansion
  • Mistletoe on the path by the lake

3. Download the APP, prior to visiting

The Glensheen APP is loaded with a wide variety of Glensheen info and also includes an audio tour. Plus, there is a lot more information per room, including on the art. This is something you can look at prior to visiting to get yourself well versed for the experience.

Make sure to download the Glensheen APP

4. Slow down — Look Closer

Glensheen is all about the details. From the nationally famous light fixtures to the pocket doors with two types of wood paneling. The best way to see more is to slow down your experience and look at the details. This is when Glensheen really truly begins to amaze you. This is why so many on staff get a little obsessive about this place.
